Peter Franchot, the Maryland comptroller, presented Sunny Day Cafe with a proclamation this week honoring the restaurant for its customer service.
He hand-delivered a certificate of recognition to cafe owner Laurie Orfanidis Wednesday, declaring Sunny Day Cafe a “great neighborhood gathering place with a mouth-watering menu, great service and authentic recipes” that has become a “notable local landmark.”
Orfanidis, who has been in the restaurant business for 35 years, opened the café in late 2012 with the help of her husband, Nick, and their sons, Evan and Jerry, along with friends, according to Franchot.
